Easter Sunday Worship at St. Matthias

Peace and blessings to you on this Holy Saturday!

The sunny skies were so beautiful this afternoon as I took a walk downtown to enjoy some lunch and walk through the quad at Dickinson College, where I love to spend time. Hopefully you have also been able to enjoy these last few days of beautiful weather during Holy Week and experience God’s presence with you.

A reminder that we will gather outdoors in front of the church for Easter Sunday worship beginning at 9:30 a.m. Thanks to all who let me know that you will be attending — and even if you didn’t RSVP, we hope to see you tomorrow morning! If you would prefer to worship online at home, we will be posting it on YouTube and Facebook following the in-person service, at the following link:

A copy of the worship bulletin for you to follow along online with is available at this link:

Please remember to bring a lawn chair (and a blanket, as it may be chilly in the morning!!) We will be celebrating Holy Communion using pre-packaged elements; you may pick one up on the information table located by the parking lot, along with a copy of the bulletin.

Funeral Arrangements – Donald Spahr

In the sure and certain hope of the resurrection, I share with you the news of the passing of Donald Spahr. Don had been hospitalized following a brief illness and died Thursday morning, April 1, at Carlisle Hospital. Don and his family have been longtime members of St. Matthias.

Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, Carlisle, with funeral service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Please keep his wife, Joanne, their son, Michael, and Don’s sister, Treva Myers, in your prayers.

Midweek Worship

Thanks to all who participated in our midweek online Lenten services. We will be taking a break following Easter but will be hosting a forum in May in which we will explore and discuss our spiritual gifts. Please watch for further details!

Online Giving to St. Matthias:

Although we aren’t gathering in person, bills to maintain our ministry and our building still continue. We have set up a secure online giving tool (endorsed by the ELCA and used by more than 4,000 churches) through Tithely. You may give online by clicking on the link below — and you may also use the site to set up recurring giving, where your gift will be automatically deducted on a day of your choosing. There’s also a green DONATE button at the bottom of this bulletin (and at the bottom of our website) that you nay click on to make a gift. If you have any questions on how to use this service, please let me know. THANK YOU for your continued support of St. Matthias and its ministry.

God’s peace,

Vicar MJ
